Shape Management acted as the Design Project Manager and Construction Superintendent for the $10 million redevelopment of the VC Mitchell Park Recreation Precinct, delivered on behalf of the City of Donnybrook–Balingup. The project was procured under a Design and Construct delivery model following completion of the concept design, with Shape Management managing the design development, procurement, contract administration and construction phases.
The redevelopment included the construction of a new multi-purpose sports pavilion comprising player change rooms, umpire facilities, a warm-up room, public amenities, service areas, a GMO store, canteen, and lift and stair access between levels. The upper level incorporates community function spaces, a commercial kitchen and bar, associated storage and service areas, public amenities, multi-purpose meeting rooms and office accommodation. External works included a new accessible ramp to the oval, spectator seating, civil works, car parking, landscaping and associated infrastructure upgrades.
The existing tennis pavilion was also refurbished through alterations and additions including new change rooms and amenities, replacement roofing and insulation, a new terrace, upgraded entry statement and improved pathways connecting the facility to the surrounding tennis courts.
The completed redevelopment has transformed the precinct into a modern, accessible and flexible sporting and community hub, providing high-quality shared-use facilities that support local sporting clubs, community organisations and a wide range of indoor and outdoor events.
